Letter from the

PUBLISHER

Well, hello there, spring; it seemed to greet us a little early this year, and I’m all about that. This issue snuck up on me, as they all do. But what partially made the time fly is that we were having so much fun on our Beer Trail featured in the last issue. Thank you to all those who participated. Things went so well that we may do something similar again; I’d love to hear your ideas. In the meantime, dive deep into the spring issue, where you’ll find all the great things happening in our area. One feature includes tips and helpful hints from a professional landscaper on finding the right professional to do your next outdoor project.

Another is a nonprofit you may have heard of, All is Welles (and Willa, too!), which talks about two parents whose mission is to help provide inclusion for their two children with Down Syndrome and awareness to those who do not have someone close to them with the extra chromosome.

The cover story walks through the journey of Dan Campbell and his calling to help those who find

themselves homeless. He also mentions misconceptions many have of those on the streets and how he hopes to provide a better understanding.

Don’t just read the big stories in this issue of LAMM. We have Burnt Ends Barbecue where we find out how it’s gone since their move across the river to Auburn, and more future plans as well.

Luxury in the Hood is a salon specializing in textured hair but also helps those who want to be trained in the field. Check out their other services by going to their story on page 30.

The Maine Music Society is celebrating the Golden Jubilee this year. Check out their story to see when the remaining concerts are scheduled.

Lastly, we have our “in every issue” sections you should check out every quarter: the Gallery pages, which features local artist Steve Bradford; Last Word, which features local legend John Jenkins; and the calendar to check out a variety of events happening around the LA area. Enjoy!
